How Does Microneedling Work?

As briefly mentioned before, microneedling works by causing damage to your skin, which stimulates your skin's healing process to allow it to produce more collagen and elastin.

Elastin and collagen are two important proteins that are responsible for keeping your skin looking and feeling smooth and youthful. Microneedling can help with a wide range of skin concerns, such as:

  • Fine lines
  • Acne scars
  • Enlarged pores
  • Stretch marks
  • Uneven skin tone
  • Stretch marks

How Often Should You Get Microneedling?

How often you should get microneedling depends on the areas you are treating. For mild cases, we would recommend sessions every 2-4 weeks. However, we recommend deep treatment for scars to be repeated every 4-6 weeks.

Different skin concerns determine how often you should receive treatment, for example:

If you suffer from fine lines, wrinkles or stretch marks, you will notice a difference after around 4-8 sessions.

The number of sessions you need depends on your circumstances and goals. If you want to find out more about how often you should receive microneedling and how many sessions you need, book a consultation, and we will create a bespoke treatment plan for you.

  • Find lines and wrinkles: Every 6 weeks
  • Sun damage: 2-4 weeks
  • Pigmentation: 2-4 weeks
  • Acne: 4 weeks
  • Scarring: 6 weeks

There are some ways to make your microneedling results last longer, such as having a balanced diet, staying hydrated and living a healthy lifestyle.

What to Expect After Treatment

Straight after your microneedling treatment, you will experience slight swelling and redness. Please remember that this is completely normal and should resolve itself within the next few days. Your skin may also feel tight and warm; again, this should resolve on its own.

What are the Side Effects of Microneedling?
