WHAT IS CHEEK ENHANCEMENT?

Do you feel you have lost definition in your cheeks? If so, you may benefit from cheek enhancement.

As we age, we lose volume in different areas of our face, including our cheeks, which is where cheek filler comes in to help restore the shape and create a more youthful, lifted look.

But what exactly is cheek enhancement? How does it work, and would you benefit from this treatment? Read our post to find out!

WHAT IS CHEEK ENHANCEMENT

What is a Cheek Enhancement?

Simply put, cheek enhancement is a non-surgical way to manage volume loss and structure changes that are often associated with weight changes, genetics, medical conditions or ageing.

Cheek enhancement works by injecting hyaluronic acid into the treatment areas to lift the face and enhance the natural bone structure. The amount of filler you need depends on your facial anatomy and goals.

This will be discussed with you during your consultation.

Is Cheek Filler Right for You?

As briefly mentioned before, you may benefit from cheek filler if you’ve noticed a loss of volume in your cheeks. If you’re after a more sculpted look without the downtime, cheek filler may be the solution for you. You may be a good candidate for this treatment if:

  • You want to enhance the appearance of your cheekbones without surgery
  • Your face lacks definition
  • You’re looking for a minimally invasive procedure with little downtime

However, you shouldn’t receive cheek filler if you:

  • Allergies to synthetic substances (found in some dermal fillers)
  • Autoimmune conditions
  • Tuberculosis
  • Certain skin diseases
  • Are pregnant or breastfeeding
  • Are under 18

If you are interested in cheek filler but are unsure whether it’s right for you, don’t hesitate to contact us, and we will book you in for a consultation to discuss your goals and concerns.

What Are the Side Effects of Cheek Enhancement?

Cheek filler is classed as a low-risk procedure when performed by a qualified practitioner. Some common side effects of cheek enhancement include:

Common side effects Uncommon side effects
Swelling Swelling or bruising that lasts longer than a week
Bruising Infection
Redness at the injection sites Filler migration
Lumps or bumps (this often settles as the filler migrates with the tissue) Blanching of the skin or severe pain (signs of a vascular occlusion)

If you experience any of these uncommon side effects, make sure you contact your GP and practitioner as soon as possible.

How Long Does Cheek Enhancement Last?

How long cheek fillers last varies from person to person. On average, the filler lasts around 9-18 months. Cheek filler lasts longer compared to other dermal fillers, as there is less movement in this area.

How long filler lasts can also depend on your metabolism. If you have a fast metabolism, your body is more likely to break the filler down quicker compared to someone with a slow metabolism. There are many ways you can help your filler last longer, such as:

  • Staying hydrated
  • Following aftercare instructions
  • Maintaining a healthy lifestyle
  • Avoiding smoking
  • Scheduling top-up treatments to maintain results
