HOW LONG DOES NON SURGICAL RHINOPLASTY LAST?
Non-surgical rhinoplasty, sometimes referred to as nose filler, is an alternative to a surgical nose job. It is a great way to change the shape of your nose without undergoing surgery.
Rhinoplasty (a surgical nose job) involves removing bone, tissue and cartilage from your nose to remove any lumps or bumps. However, rhinoplasty is a permanent procedure, whereas nose fillers aren’t permanent.
So, how long does nose filler last and are you a suitable candidate? Read our blog to find out everything you need to know!
What is Non-surgical Rhinoplasty?
As briefly mentioned before, non-surgical rhinoplasty is an alternative to a surgical nose job. This treatment involves injecting filler to change the shape of your nose temporarily.
It’s a great option for those looking to make some changes to their nose without the downtime. Many people choose nose filler over rhinoplasty because it’s non-invasive and much more affordable.
Although nose filler is a great alternative to rhinoplasty, it can’t be used to make your nose smaller or remove bumps. You would benefit from nose filler if:
- You want to lift the tip of your nose
- You want to improve the appearance of your side profile
- You want a temporary solution with minimal downtime
How Long Does Non-surgical Rhinoplasty Last?
On average, nose filler lasts around 12-18 months (slightly longer with repeat treatments). Nose filler can last longer compared to other types of dermal filler, such as lip filler. This is because there is less movement around the area, which means the filler breaks down more slowly.
The skin on the nose is also thicker and more structured, which holds the filler in place. However, it’s important to remember that everyone is different and how long your filler lasts depends on your metabolic rate and water intake.
How Can I Make My Nose Fillers Last Longer?
There are many ways you can make sure your filler lasts longer, such as:
- Stay hydrated: Hyaluronic acid holds water so sure you drink plenty of it so your filler lasts.
- Avoid excessive sun exposure: Try to avoid sunbeds and too much sun exposure as this can cause the filler to break down quicker. If you use the sunbeds regularly, consider covering your filler so it lasts longer.
- Avoid excessive exercise: Too much exercise can increase your metabolism, so try to avoid exercising for 2 weeks after your treatment.
- Avoid smoking: Smoking reduces blood flow and can speed up the breakdown of your filler. Again, avoid smoking 24-48 hours after.
- Make the most of top-ups: Regular top-ups can help you maintain your desired results for longer.
How Much is Nose Filler in the UK?
Nose filler is a cheaper alternative to surgical rhinoplasty. However, the cost can vary significantly depending on:
- The practitioner you choose
- The location of the clinic
- The type of results you want
Make sure you do your research before choosing a practitioner. Don’t just choose a practitioner based on how cheap they are.
This is because the price usually reflects their experience. Here at Hannah McCoy, we are a team of qualified and experienced practitioners with medical backgrounds.
We charge £300 for nose filler, however, we do offer other options to slim and lift your nose, such as:
- Pixie tip lift: £210
- Botox nose slimming and lifting: £190
If you are unsure as to which is best for you, make sure to book a free consultation so we can discuss your goals, side effects and any questions you may have. However, if you wish to book a consultation and receive treatment on the day, this will cost £30.
What Are the Side Effects of Non-surgical Rhinoplasty?
Like all treatments, nose filler can have side effects, such as:
- Redness: This can be common surrounding the treated area
- Swelling: This is very common, especially within the first 24-48 hours
- Bruising: This is to be expected around the treated area but should resolve within a week
If you experience any of these side effects, don’t worry as this is completely normal and should resolve on its own within a few days. However, if you experience any of the following side effects, make sure to contact your practitioner or doctor immediately:
- Allergic reactions: Symptoms include itching, rashes or difficulty breathing
- Vascular occlusion: Symptoms include whitening of the skin or severe pain (this occurs when filler is injected into the blood vessels)
- Infection: Symptoms include your nose or surrounding areas feeling hot to the touch or redness and swelling that doesn’t resolve within a few days
This is why it’s so important to go to a qualified practitioner at all times so that these rare side effects can be kept to a minimum, if not eliminated.
